Blue Modernism.

Casa Serinyana, also known as Casa Blaua, stands as one of the most iconic Modernist residences in Cadaqués and a defining landmark within the town’s architectural heritage. Built between 1905 and 1906 for the Serinyana family by architect Josep Puig i Cadafalch, the house is instantly recognizable for its deep blue façade, which gave rise to its popular name, “Blaua.” Facing the sea, the residence blends ornamental Modernist detailing with Mediterranean influences, reflecting the prosperity and cultural ambition of the Catalan bourgeoisie at the beginning of the 20th century.

Beyond its aesthetic presence, Casa Blaua plays a significant role in the cultural landscape of Cadaqués. Its decorative program, inspired by natural motifs and characterized by a strong dialogue between light, color, and craftsmanship, embodies the intersection of international Modernism and regional identity. Today, the house continues to symbolize the artistic and architectural prestige of the Costa Brava, representing both historical significance and enduring cultural value.
