Embracing darkness.
Not all homes aim to be bright. Some prefer to be deep, quiet, intimate, and embracing. Casa de Palma, the most representative project to date by the Madrid-based studio 2arquitectos, led by Sergio Olazábal and Leticia Basail, is a declaration of intent: a home that turns away from standardized white and complacent minimalism to reclaim the weight of materials, the nuance of textures, the character of craftsmanship, and the quality of time.
The result is a Mallorcan palace at a human scale. A stately home with presence, with memory, with a complexity understood in its noblest sense. A house that seems to have always been there, as if it had been renovated in the 16th century rather than in the heart of the 21st.
